Right now, if you want to play with mods with a lot of depth that are bug-free and well-polished, play 1.7: those mods have been around for years now (June 2014), while 1.10.2 came out only last year (in June). And for every mod that got left behind (Witchery, etc.), there are new mods coming out (Roots/Embers being the standout). If you actually look at the mods, Thaumcraft is in the works, Draconic Evolution just got released for 1.10+, Mystical Agriculture does what Magical crops did, and many other 1.7 favorites are working on getting up to speed. I disagree strongly with this statement: it's just that the mods are lagging behind. The modded community died, once mod packs started upgrading to 1.10.2. There's a lot of good parts to 1.10.2, but not enough of what I want to fully enjoy it yet. EnderIO (my favorite tech mod) has some really cool new stuff and RFtools (a close 2nd) is right behind.Īt this point though I'm choosing to wait. I also don't like the new Combat update (I think its half assed) and I'm praying someone makes a mod to disable it.īut I would be lying if I told you that I don't want to play 1.10.2. And I'm waiting for several of MY FAVORITE mods to finish porting/updating. (like the whole 1.10.2 to 1.11 thing that's going on now) That way we don't have everyone rushing to the Newest version out there while some are still trying to get their mod finished for the now "previous" version. Stick with that version for a specified length of time, and then as a community agree what version the community should move on to. Make that the standard for a while so people can write mods for it or get old mods updated to it. What I do wish is that they would pick a Minecraft Version and STICK WITH IT. So a lot of modders who wrote mods for 1.6.4 and 1.7.10 who fleshed out their mods and updated them with minor tweeks pretty much had to completely recode their mods. 1.8.9 from what I've gathered SCREWED almost every Mod out there when Minecraft completely redid the way blocks are rendered (something about it being more RAM intensive on 1.10.2 vs more processor intensive in 1.7.10) I will agree with you that it did feel like the Modding Community hit a "rough patch" but remember that this wasn't entirely their fault. If you want to experience something "new", like the Combat Update, and play with some new toys that your favorite 1.7.10 mods added to their new versions then play 1.10.2. If you want more variety to choose from, fully fleshed out mods and mod packs then yes 1.7.10 is for you. This is like saying Chocolate or Vanilla.
